Simple ways to teach Opposites to your child

  Teaching opposites is an ideal way to improve your child’s ability to communicate. Kids would be happy to learn opposites also known as ‘antonyms’ if you teach them in a fun and memorable way. Activities to teach opposites to the kids Matching the Opposite - Kids love matching and you don’t need to limit this activity to the paper. You can turn the matching game into a race. Write a list of words on the whiteboard and then give your kid an index card with an opposite word written on it. He/She must race to the board and tape it next to the antonyms. Colour me Opposite - You can use index cards or paper circles to teach opposites. On one side write a word and ask your child to illustrate it. On the other side write the opposite and ask your child to illustrate it. Opposite Speed Round - Once your child has a good grip on opposites, set a timer and see how many opposites they can name.
